Road Tax Sticker for Vehicle Tax Identification
The rapid development of technology in the last few decades has brought about fundamental changes in various aspects of human life. The government as the actor in the function of state regulation takes advantage of these technological developments and adapts them for the benefit of the state, one of which is for taxation matters.
Some time ago, on Monday, October 18, 2021, the government officially launched a proof of payment of motor vehicle taxes in the form of a holographic security sticker. This program is one of the government’s efforts to digitize road taxes, one of which is vehicles. There are several motives for holding this program, one of which is to assist the work of authorized officers in identifying vehicles and distinguishing between those who have and have not fulfilled their tax obligations.
This program is one form of innovation carried out by integrating proof of payment of Motor Vehicle Tax payment obligations and the Mandatory Contribution of Road Traffic Accident Funds (SWDKLLJ) into digital stickers with hologram security and QR codes. Furthermore, the QR code is integrated in real-time with SAMSAT’s computer server. Authorized officers and even taxpayers themselves can access the QR code listed for scanning through an application that can be downloaded for free to their smartphone.
On the other hand, the road tax sticker also tries to make it easier for the authorities to detect duplicate vehicle number plates. It is undeniable that the Motor Vehicle Tax is one of the largest revenues for local governments (Pemda). It was also stated that he even contributed up to 43% of the total local revenue (PAD) in 2021. With the implementation of this road tax digitalization, the government hopes that public awareness and compliance in paying taxes can continue to increase from time to time.
How to Get a Road Tax Hologram Sticker?
Online Payment
The first way to get this hologram sticker is for the taxpayer to pay their motor vehicle tax online. After that, they will get a verification code in the form of text or a 2D barcode.
Furthermore, taxpayers can visit KIOSK which has collaborated with the nearest SAMSAT to scan the verification code on the QR code scanner. If the vehicle data and complementary information displayed are deemed appropriate, then the road tax sticker printing process can be carried out and can be taken at that time. The digital sticker is ready to be installed on the taxpayer’s vehicle.
Pick up at Samsat
If the taxpayer makes a direct payment through the SAMSAT office, the process of printing this digital sticker can also be carried out simultaneously with the routine motor vehicle tax payment process. The officer will give a sticker to the taxpayer who has paid the tax.
